Message-ID: <7A9CFD68-F230-41FC-9CF0-4C937BE2E138@gmail.com> In the Renfrew-Collingwood neighborhood, there is a secret, beautiful place. Called a ?jewel in the city,? this magical place where coyotes howl and hawks circle overhead is called the Renfrew Ravine. Each year, the Ravine is celebrated at the Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival on the full moon closest to the equinox. This year?s, the 8th annual, takes place Saturday, September 25. The Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival is a twilight of magic, music, beauty and nature for the entire family. It celebrates the full moon and harvest abundance, honouring diverse cultural traditions. The festival highlights art, music, environmental stewardship, and community participation. There are many ways to get involved with the festival: > Make a lantern Drop in to Renfrew Community Centre and learn from experienced artists Mon ? Friday 4-8pm Sept 13 ? 23 ($12 simple globe lanterns and $17 fancy bamboo frames) Carry your lantern in the Twilight Lantern Parade leaving from Slocan Park! A globe lantern can be formed in an evening and left to dry over night. The next day requires about 20 minutes to finish and add the candle. Bamboo lanterns require more patience as a frame needs to be built with thin pieces of bamboo and then tissue paper applied over the frame. Yoko will help you make stars or moons or assist you in designing your own bamboo shape. Young children should bring an adult helper.
